As a lifelong athlete and conscious about health, Lori always had a passion for wellness and learning how nutrition impacted performance and vitality. After working in health clubs and for many nutrition programs early in her adult life, this interest led her to study nutrition in college culminating in a Bachelor of Science degree in Human Nutrition.
After college Lori turned her passion and desire to help others into a career and went on to establish a New York based private nutrition practice helping hundreds of clients achieve their health and wellness goals. Some years later a popular Nutrition Education company brought Lori on to help educate and train personal trainers in health clubs around the country. This was an exciting time of travel and working with thousands of fitness professionals nationwide that led to a cross country move.
Eventually Lori became the Director of Research & Development for the same company. She saw this career change as a way to “reach the masses” and thus help more people achieve better health. Among the many projects she and her team accomplished, one that stands out is the development and launch of the bodybugg™, a wearable calorie tracking device and 2005 winner of “Best of What’s New in Personal Health in the U.S.” awarded by Popular Science. What is now common to wear on your wrist was very new and cutting-edge technology at the time. It was very exciting to be part of this venture and especially helping people reach their goals easier and faster.
Always active, Lori was first exposed to the martial arts in college where she obtained her first rank in Shotokan Karate. While she always had a passion to go further in her Karate training, focus on her career in the wellness industry took precedence. However, after meeting Kris Kademian, Lori was led back to her Martial Arts training and her passion for wellness quickly merged with her new understanding of the traditional Martial Arts philosophy that Kris taught. Not only did this new-found understanding help her personally, but it also enabled her to broaden her understanding of proper movement, which traditional sports had not done. Her subsequent Karate training, especially with Grandmaster Tadashi Yamashita, even enabled her to heal debilitating injuries that had mitigated her physical training.
It didn’t take long for Lori to realize that the fullness traditional Martial Arts and its philosophy offers lined up perfectly with her personal and professional wellness practices. Even so, as she continued seeking new ways to compliment the benefits of these practices, Lori was introduced to essential oils & products from doTERRA, the world leader in sourcing and producing the most pure tested grade essential oils. The addition of these safe, effective, and affordable products into her personal and professional practices have been life changing for her and her clients.
Now with these worlds of wellness merged, Lori’s passion continues to be helping others find and build on those life changing benefits. She loves consulting with others about how the benefits of proper movement through traditional Martial Arts training, sound nutrition, essential oils and smart supplementation can elevate their health and vitality to new heights. Or what she fondly now calls it, the Karate way of life.
